Blog Journal #5

Twitter is a neat way to find information about upcoming events, news, or even just a funny joke. I have found this website quite helpful when it comes to trying to keep myself updated. It's a place where you can here many opinions on a story and see videos of those who witnessed. This could be beneficial to my future career, because as a teacher I need to stay updated with the new laws passed and this allows me to see how people are reacting to them and what they are doing about it.

The digital divide affects many students worldwide and it plays a major role in student success rates. When assigning homework that involves the use of technology, it gives students who have access to it the upper hand. The divide grows stronger as students who don't have access to internet don't have equal opportunity or access to learning materials. When teachers continue to assign work to be done online students who don't have access to internet at home will fall behind . It is very common for not all in a classroom to have access to internet after school , so in the beginning of the year I think I would have a survey for students to fill out so that I have an idea of where each student is at. If majority does not have access I will try to keep all assignments paper based so all have equal chance to succeed.

In my classroom I would like to use google classroom as well as zoom.Google classroom is a great resource where I can post any updates for my classroom as well as post assignments. It also allows for class comments , which can help with any questions a student might have. Also zoom will allow me to host one on ones after class for additional help or feedback. This allows for students to not be shy when asking for extra help as it will be hosted after school and none of their peers would have to know.

  1. This is an excellent post! I agree, Twitter is a great way to stay informed and a great way to stay up-to-date on information while starting your teaching career. The digital divide does have a great impact on a student's education and it is important to recognize a student's situation. Google classroom is a great learning tool!
