Microsoft word is something many students have to become familiar during their school experience as it is where many essays and reports are written. I do enjoy using MS as it is very easy to navigate and their are a lot of options to format your report. Although this is true, I do prefer using Google docs. It is something that I have grown up on and I can safely say I am more familiar with it. I find it easy to share documents with peers and place documents in files. Everything is saved onto your google drive, so any project that you have done can all be found in that one place.

In the ISTE standards for educators 2.4 collaborator stuck out to me the most. It elaborates in how educators take the time to work with peers to learn from one another and progress in their studies.Collaborating is something so important as in school and in jobs you will have to be able to work with others. Gaining these skills at such a young age, will help these students prosper when it is time to participate in group work. Especially in jobs, recruiters are looking for people who collaborate well with other and who are good communicators, this is vital when it comes to trying to run a business smoothly.

I believe the term "digital native" comes with a lot of assumptions that may not be true for all. A "digital native" is someone who is born into the use of technology and is familiar with the ways of communicating on it. I have had an older group teachers who would be considered "digital immigrants" and we have had to constantly assist them with navigating the web to conduct the lesson. While someone who is considered a "digital native" is able to conduct the lesson with ease without having to ask for help.

  1. The comparison of Google Docs and Microsoft Word by Katy is valuable, with a clear preference for Google Docs because of its straightforward layout and collaboration features. Although she emphasizes the importance of the ISTE standard for collaboration, she could shed more light on why Google Docs is better by giving more detailed examples. To provide readers with a fair comparison of both options, it's also important to recognize some of Microsoft Word's advantages. Additionally, when talking about "digital natives," you may make a distinction by acknowledging that not all "digital natives" are equally proficient at using technology. Some may experience challenges with certain components, just as "digital immigrants" may develop proficiency in other areas. However, because the capabilities of the entire community fluctuate, it's challenging to distinguish between these two communities.
